NFL Play Action in New York City
Paramount+
The Ask
Paramount+ needed a studio set for NFL Play Action that went well beyond a typical television set. Every scenic element had to deliver the visual impact envisioned by the creative team while meeting the practical demands of an active New York City broadcast studio.
The set also needed to be built “in rep,” allowing union stagehands to repeatedly break down, move, and reassemble the scenery throughout the show's production schedule. That meant large-scale walls, architectural features, illuminated elements, and scenic structures had to be engineered as modular components without sacrificing their appearance on camera.
Pinpoint worked with the studio’s design team throughout development, providing estimating and fabrication input as concepts evolved. That early collaboration helped inform material choices, construction methods, and design adjustments before the project moved into production.
Background
When Paramount+ launched NFL Play Action, in conjunction with its studio, Stinger Productions, and production designer Theron Wineinger Design, its new weekly NFL studio show, the production needed a set that could bring the energy and personality of football into a fresh, family-focused, television environment overlooking Times Square.
Pinpoint was brought into the project early, working alongside the creative team as the set design was still taking shape. Before fabrication began, we provided ongoing estimating and production guidance to help align the creative vision with the project's budget and determine the best way to physically produce each element.
The result was a highly customized broadcast environment built to perform both on camera and behind the scenes, week after week. NFL Play Action premiered in September of the 2026 NFL season, and streams Wednesdays on Paramount+.

Building the NFL Play Action Set
Pinpoint fabricated a complete scenic environment that brought together dimensional architecture, integrated lighting, custom graphics, specialty finishes, and larger-than-life football-inspired features.
Throughout the studio, straight and curved scenic walls were fabricated in modular sections with dimensional faux marble treatments and architectural details. Nine custom perforated column shrouds incorporated programmable LED backlighting, while illuminated channel letters, stadium-inspired lighting elements, and a dimensional overhead football emblem added depth and energy throughout the set.
Additional environments included a custom bar, interview zone with internally back-lit walls and ceiling, host and guest production areas, decorative planters and creative solutions to mounting and disguising TV monitors within the scenery.
Behind the finished set was an equally important layer of engineering. Components had to break down into manageable sections, withstand repeated handling, integrate lighting and broadcast technology, and be efficiently assembled and disassembled by the stage crew.
The result is a studio environment designed not simply to look great on television, but to function as a working set throughout the production of a weekly NFL series.
