Overview
Pinpoint played a pivotal role in the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s 6,600-square-foot expansion project in New Castle, Indiana. With direction from exhibit designer Peter Hyde Design and added expertise from Silver Oaks, the interactive design and technology integrator, Pinpoint fabricated and built immersive experiences that celebrate Indiana's rich basketball heritage.
The expansion includes interactive exhibits, artifact storage, administrative offices, and increased exhibit space for future artifact and inductee displays, enhancing the museum's ability to preserve and share the state’s storied basketball history.
Background
The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame launched the Past & Present, Forever Campaign to expand and modernize its facilities and enrich visitors’ experiences with innovative exhibits and displays.
To achieve this, Pinpoint and its partners pooled their expertise in exhibit design, interactive technology, and creative fabrication. The expansion features custom elements such as illuminated LED exhibit showcases, basketball-themed interactive displays, and engaging photo moments.
The Indiana Basketball HOF reopened in mid-December following a renovation that modernized and expanded the facility... Pinpoint and Peter Hyde Design won an RFP for exhibit design; Pinpoint served as the fabricator while Silver Oaks Communications handled tech and audio/visual integrations. The remit, said Hyde, owner and lead designer of his eponymous firm, was to “bring in a little more interactivity and spectacle, more that’s going to grab today’s audiences than they’ve been able to do previously, while increasing the overall space and infrastructure and functionality of the Hall of Fame overall, with expanded archives.”
Deliverables
Elements included in the build were dimensional lettering, vinyl graphics and wall wraps, basketball court-style flooring, interactive digital displays and custom stands. Traditional carpentry and craftsmanship rounded out Pinpoint’s work, which brought Indiana’s basketball legacy to life.
